January in San Francisco can be heavenly
I said aloud, "How can this be January?" and otherwise remarked on the relentless beauty of the day. I feel SO LUCKY to live here. Beyond lucky.

Photographing food without styling it
Eventually I'll pull recipes together for a book, and earn the pity of some young food stylist over not having the common sense to ARRANGE noodles.
What? Oh, this is real buckwheat soba in men tsuyu (minced ginger, scallions, shiitake mushrooms, soy sauce, sake, and water).

Murals at Fort Mason
The murals are fantastic up close - I recommend visiting to appreciate them! They are dynamic; the coordination between the door pieces and the dock wall below is great; and the individual pieces are beautiful (and sometimes rather intimidating, just like actual Thai temples are!).
Weathering
Someday, I'll have another gallery show, and my friends will think (know) I've lost my mind, because all of my work will be things that have been left outside to oxidize and age as a meditation on the passage of time, and... I will not be understood. But I'll be happy - things like this make me happy. 😊
Bubbles of life (sand dollars and similar joys)
This is so delightful, and it is hidden away at the bay-facing side of the Exploratorium to delight people just walking along the public 'shore' path on the piers...

Golden Couch (filter fun)
I don't know the circumstances that made this couch such a vivid golden mustard color, but the texture is fun to recolor with filters.
(I own both a deep green couch, and separately, a large violet couch, and even though I didn't choose the violet fabric, I'm not in a position to judge people for their yellow-ochre or tumeric latte tastes.)
