I found one of my ancient sketchbooks (though not the one I was looking for), and was amused to find contour sketches of figures from catalogs from '92. The idea was to sketch without picking the pencil up from the surface of the page, which means you plan the drawing differently...

Most of them aren't very good, but I like these. I drafted too much back then, so it felt good to draw something loosely. I never really needed to draw fabric, so that was also novel.

I'm out of white ink ([whining about it being locally out of stock omitted]), but the silver Montana markers are also quite wonderful atop acrylic paint. This angle shows off the shine.

Here are more tourist snaps from my weekend breaks before/after European business trips: this time, from Belgium.  I spent a rainy weekend in Brussels in July, which was absolutely delightful, even if the photos remind me that everything was gray and damp. :)

My new article suggesting ways of keeping your analog photographic prints (and other analog artwork) organized is up at the wonderful alternativephotography.com website!

I'm not a big New Year's Resolution person - why wait to a particular date to change your life? - but if you had a prolific 2014 and need to manage all of your great work, start now, if you haven't already!

Montana white acrylic markers are a new favorite. I use them over other acrylics, which function as primer on absorbent papers, keeping the ink bold and on the painting surface. They are more saturated and opaque than white Sakura markers, and more versatile than the wonderful white Uniball Signo writing pens I use so often. And are refillable!

It's 2015, and I'm only sharing photos from mid-2014 now...  You think this is bad, you should see how far behind I am with email!  (More than six thousand messages!?)

In addition to my day trip to Uppsala, I had a chance to take some pleasant walks around Brunnsviken and Norrmalm during my stay in Stockholm.  Here are some photos from those, not-very-touristy walks.

In May of 2014, I also managed to spend an American holiday weekend in Sweden, where I took a day trip to Uppsala to see the Universitet, the Slott, a multicultural fair (where I ate delicious African food), and to enjoy a real Swedish Fika.  Here are photos from my pleasant afternoon in Uppsala.
