It is impressively windy, and so I'm sitting inside with the heat on, drawing in a notebook with my favorite ink pens.

Remember drawing? That wonderfully fun activity you did as a child is just as much fun when you are an adult - except you are allowed to use much better pens and paper. :)

In March 2014, I had a brief, cold, lovely visit to Luzern, Switzerland, where I was lucky enough to spend a few days after a business trip.

It rained heavily and even snowed while I was there, so I spent time outdoors bundled up and/or hoping to return indoors!  During breaks in the weather, I enjoyed the lovely pedestrian bridges over the Ruess River, the charming old town, the sky reflecting on Lake Lucerne (der Vierwaldst├Ąttersee), and views of Mt. Rigi and Mt. Pilatus.

(These photos show slightly different subjects than my earlier panoramic photos did.)

It's amusing to me that Internet disputes about the spelling of the current Jewish holiday don't even bother considering the spelling used on SF's City manorah sign. Ours starts with a C and has no double letters. Ha!

I was there for the lighting ceremony and song tonight, and it was charming.

Our City Xmas tree gave me flashbacks to prior years (tradition!), and makes me want to suggest different yearly themes, so I can better organize the years in my memories.

One of my colleagues has changing "photo wallpaper" as the backdrop to his email on his computer, and today's background was a pretty mountain scene, which INCLUDES THE MOUNTAINS SHOWN IN THIS PHOTO from the edge of a lake I visited!

It's not odd that his computer showed a scene from the Swiss alps, but it IS completely wild to me that I have been there, and recognized it immediately.

On that note, here are some observations from a day trip to hike in the Swiss Alps.

Here are more observations from my wholly unexpected, amazing, exhausting 2013 - 2014 business trips to Switzerland.  Which, despite the intensity of my work and the difficulty of coping with a nine hour time difference, are an experience I'll always appreciate having had.
