This brief article notes that autonomous home and road-use (vehicular) robots have an extensive range of needs to help them navigate the environment. This could play out into conflicting ways: first off, homes and roads may be designed not for human comfort, but for the effective functioning of robots. Next, the same environment may be purposely designed to fool those robots should they become a threat, such as during times of war.
Either way, the needs of robots will be considered in both interior and other environmental design projects going forward.
