Scenes in the formerly industrial eastern Mission

Murals along Harrison Street

My recent prolific photo scanning projects overflowed my available storage, so I went out today to purchase an external storage drive.  While I was out, I took a walk down Harrison Street from Division to see what the area is like now.   Previously a district with light industrial businesses, it now has fashionable cafes and shops of the sort that sell letterpress cards (if you know what I mean).

It was a lovely walk.  The wind hadn't yet picked up, and I spent too much money on books (as I tend to do).  Here are some photos representing the walk.

7 scenes from my walk along Harrison Street including skylight, murals, smokestacks, butterfly cutouts, blooming eucalyptus trees

Battery Graffiti

Three images of grafitti on batteries, including a robotic looking purple sphinx, a view with the Golden Gate Bridge, and a scene with birdwatchers and a hawk

There was more colorful graffiti on the battery I first passed through, but what made me laugh was a collection of bird watchers on the roofs, while a hawk just sort of perched on a corner beyond their notice...  (See photo on the lower left, above.)

There was a good range of color and styles.

I was looking for images of sketchbooks, and came across this site that shares some of my interests, and happens to be reviewing some lovely books on street art.

I think I know how I'm going to spend the gift cards I recently received...
