View eastward with wildfire smoke from the north (22 Sept)
I had a meeting in downtown San Francisco, and the East Bay (beyond Treasure and Yerba Buena Islands) just didn't appear to exist before the breeze came up. The fires, of which there are at least four, are burning 5+ hours north of here, but it turns out the wind can blanket our area in just a few days.

Smoky skies have low contrast (Duochrome)
When I saw sunlight on my curtains this morning, I was eager to get out and shoot some more Polaroid (Originals / Impossible) Duochrome, but the sky is filled with smoke, and so I can't get the contrast I want. The light has a baby-aspirin-orange cast. Shadows are present, but muted. The sky is an ambiguous color - not blue, not gray, not quite as poetic as a William Gibson reference to a dead screen - and so I'll need to wait patiently for cleaner air before I revisit the scenes I'm eager to shoot.
(I'm sure I've noted it before, but the building is Mira by Studio Gang.)

Mountains hiding in smoke
The San Francisco Bay Area is still subject to vast plumes of wildfire smoke. Here's a view north/northwest last night vs. this morning. (The angle of the sunlight matters a lot.)
