Abstract thoughts (26 December)

After these, my linework became... unduly busy, which is too much a reflection of my mind.   It was good to get it out on paper, but not visually satisfying.

Yes, I still love my Montana Markers.  

Yes, I did go out and buy the 15mm wide tipped versions of my two favorites, white and silver.  

Yes, using a wide marker DOES change the way I use the ink and make the differences between negative and positive space ambiguous.

Also, I did some drawings on some interior office windows that people kept trying to walk into, and the ink sticks beautifully to clean, smooth glass.  Yes, my colleagues all came by and touched it (gently), and it held up really well.  Yes, I am afraid I'll buy lots of transparent films and draw on those now - thanks for asking!

These are little artifacts from my monotype printing projects.  

Monotype printing and acrylic ink drawing have sustained me while my darkroom is packed up.  I still need to figure out how to share or organize my output...

I needed this.  I apparently have lots of geometric thoughts I need to sort out....  :D

Shiny lines

Interference green acrylic paint really shows up on Mars black!  And silver reflects too boldly in my dining room's LED lights...

Yes, I am interpreting the one on the lower right to be a disoriented stomach, now that it is horizontal.  It's easy to see eyes in everything - there's a big part of our brain devoted to faces, so Pareidolia sets in easily, on a stomach-shaped drawing or otherwise.

I'd planned to continue my yellow ochre series, but ran out of the right size of paper.  (The scandal! And me up to my eyeballs in watercolor paper, too.  It's just not the right SIZE.)  I've got a magenta series planned, but need to test some new surfaces & sizes & pens.

HOLIDAYS ARE WONDERFUL. This is so unlike what I do for a living!
