Mural at Sloat and Great Highway by Jet Martinez

Cropped photograph of SF Westside Pump Station Mural entitled Fog Lilies by Jet Martinez

The pump station is still under construction (I've cropped out the fences), but it already crowned by this mural!  (Description of the project at the SFPUC site here.)  It is called "Fog Lilies," and it is scaled wonderfully and satisfying.

A few more Instax images

I took a few more photos and got some fresh air, sunshine, and even gluten-free ravioli!  So: it's been a good day.

Questionable Hair Day (in plaster)

I would also look alarmed if I was being sculpted while my hair went on a rampage.

Wisdom Writ Large (Literally)

I like the shading!

Red Envelopes (Snakes Edition)

I appreciate how methodical the application is! :)

Great Star, Fresh Paint

I miss seeing movies here with my friends...

Year of the Very Cute Snakes

I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this.

Golden Star Neon (filter play)

My deep love for this sign continues! I am happy each time I see it.  (I've never seen it lit, because I'm never near it at night, sadly.)

Sunny December Walk (Instax Square)

The weather turned warm, and I have expired film to consume! Two photos in, my camera batteries died. I had replacements with me, but they were somehow even deader? Anyway: I got out of the house, spent money on new batteries, and got to take some photos before the sun sank too low.

Union Square Station Reflections (28 December 2024)

Public art is enriching in very satisfying ways!

Amy Sherald: American Sublime is SO GOOD

Several details from Amy Sherald's work at SFMoMA, including a full body portrait, details of hands, and scenes of visitors viewing the work.

Amy Sherald:American Sublime at SFMoMA is a superb exhibit, and I'm so glad a local editor mentioned it on Bluesky.  The scale of the work, the dones, the shadows, her treatment of fabric, her superb modeling of faces...  She is just so impressive! I bought the book, and am eager to spend more time with her superb, modern work.

Indoor Sports at SFMoMA

There is a sport-themed exhibit at SFMoMA called Get Into the Game, and it is not only very popular with visitors, but also THEY HAVE THE SECURITY GUARDS WEARING REFEREE COSTUMES, and that is hilarious.

The interactive table games deliver delight to participants and passersby.

Abstract thoughts (26 December)

Five images of wide silver or white lines on indigo-blue-painter paper.
Five image photo-collage of abstract acrylic ink drawings on indigo-painted, handmade paper.

After these, my linework became... unduly busy, which is too much a reflection of my mind.   It was good to get it out on paper, but not visually satisfying.

Mural (new to me)

Rectilinear Spiral Stair

City Hall Glass

I don't believe I've seen this glass pattern anywhere else...

U is a hard letter to carve (The Board of Svpervisors)

But somehow O isn't?

Loving the Dome

It's so grand, and the wedding parties milling beneath it and posing everywhere for photos are adorable.

(Standing just off center, so you can see the perspective and realize it isn't flat.)

Auditio (detail from Kosuth's WFT)

The Camellia Believes it is Spring

...and who am I to correct it?
